I belong to a private members’ club which organises dinners, visits and talks. Tom Briggs was the after dinner speaker at one of our meetings. It was a sell out and it’s no exaggeration to say Tom was the most impressive and popular speaker in a programme that has included such high profile guests as Jeremy Paxman. Knowledgeable, well informed and able to capture the interests of a variety of audiences, after engaging an audience of mostly high level professionals and ‘captains of industry’, he generously put on an ad hoc session for staff and others who had been unable to attend. Before the end of the evening there were already calls for a return visit.
