I think my conception of maths was very narrow -- but Tom's session really helped widen this, and realise that maths can be building plans, maps, ratios etc.

Maths in Museums for Maths Week Scotland

On March 3rd 2022 I provided a session as part of a training course towards Maths Week Scotland and National Museum Scotland‘s Maths in Museums initiative. Here are some comments from attendees following the event:

Tom’s presentation was really useful to get you thinking outside of the box. I don’t feel too comfortable with maths abilities but this session showed that you can apply it to your site and collections in really engaging, fun ways.

I found Tom Briggs’ presentation particularly useful to understand how to “find maths” within my museum, and was able to draw up a list of potential themes within the period of the session.
